Weird error

I'm not sure when this happened or the cause but my sales fell of on Friday, so maybe then. I was working on CSS today, but I don't think that can cause this problem. I also did the loginbox Friday and today.

Anyway, here is the problem; when you hit one of my main categories it shows this error

"Categories

Error!

Unable to determine connection method on a link!

Known methods: NONSSL SSL"

However, it will let you go to a sub category without a problem. If anyone has an idea, I would love to hear and it. I searched the mainboard for this and found people had gotten this error but there was no response to there problem and they never reposted a solution or where to look.

Hi Kristofor,

Thanks for the reply but it only happens if you hit a category that contains sub categories. I guess I didn't explain that very well. Go there and hit roses.

ahh ok,

i see what u mean,

try checking ur configuration in /includes/configure.php in there, you should find a section like this

define('ENABLE_SSL', false); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

thats what mine looks like, make sure it has either false or true there, i am thinkin that that might be where your problem is,

hope you get it figured out

thanks

I'll check that and see and I appreciate your help. But, I haven't played with that and this site has been running for 6mos. I can't see how any of the mods would have caused this and I don't see how the CSS could have messed it up either. Thanks again and when I find the answer I will post it.

John,

It appears that you have the search engine safe URLs turned on....try turning it off and see if that helps.

Hi Kim,

I'll try that and I do have them turned on but they have been on for months. I'll let you know what happens.

No, it didn't fix it. It seems like it must have been something I have done recently but I don't know what it could have been. I got an email from someone who can help me on Wednesday but the solution they took was to dissable the code where the error was called. But, I'm not sure how to find that.

Is it a bad idea to have SE safe URL's enabled?

Well, I have had two orders in the past couple of hours, so I guess it 's not stopping people.

John,

Did you install the categories box contribution you are using? Which one is it?

Posted

Aye, there's the rub. The lady who helped me to set this up and she did that mod several months ago and I don't know which one it is. I think it has been somewhat problematic since day one, but this is a new problem because I was playing with some ideas that Ian-San gave me and it wasn't doing this a few days ago.

Does it seem like it is a catalog/incluedes/boxes/categories problem? That is what I was thinking and I wil pop the stock one back in to avoid errors for the time being.

Could I have caused this with a CSS?
