majestix Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 I'm trying to find a host where I can install my own SSL Certificate (from InstantSSL), however most of the "cheaper" providers just allow shared certs and no third-party ones. Do you any recommendation of web hosting companies with reasonalble pricing, who allow to install your own SSL. Thanx and keep up the good work.
derek02 Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 Try www.icdsoft.com . They are only $5 a month and include a domain name and a ton of features that an ecommerce shop requires. They allow third party security certificates but the price is going to be more because a dedicated IP is needed. But it will still be cheaper than most other value host. By the way, just because the price is so low doesn't mean they skimp on quality. They have some of the best support in the industry. I know because I already have 2 accounts with them and planning another one for my new ecommerce site. They also offered to configure osCommerce for me. Good luck. derek02 Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 I just checked the price. It is $30 more a year for the dedicated IP. So the total cost to you would be ... hosting and domain name-$60 dedicated IP-$30 TOTAL-$90 Plus the cost of your security certificate. Derek Cox Furniture factory worker, aspiring millionaire.
majestix Posted June 8, 2003 Author Posted June 8, 2003 Thanx Derek, that surely is a great deal. The only drawback I find is that they are in Hongkong and it seems that even their homepage comes up quite a bit slower than I used to. I actually came across www.neureal.com today and really like the fact that you can host from 5 to unlimited domains with them in one package (dedicated IP is $1.50/mo more). Since I've got already a couple pages up, I might go with them and just move everything under one roof. Thanx for the tip though - defintely a good deal!
derek02 Posted June 8, 2003 Posted June 8, 2003 I might have to look into that company as well. Like you said ICDsoft is based in Hong Kong. I've never had any real slowdowns with my sites on ICDsoft but I'm on DSL. When I do my ecommerce site I definitely need to take into account the dialup people. orchard Posted June 8, 2003 Posted June 8, 2003 I actually came across www.neureal.com today and really like the fact that you can host from 5 to unlimited domains with them in one package (dedicated IP is $1.50/mo more).I use them for all but my main two domains. I haven't tried osCommerce, but I am using MySQL and PHP without problems so it should work. They have pretty limited support (email with about a one day delay), but I haven't really needed support yet so it hasn't been an issue. If you want to see a live web site on their servers, you can look at http://colusa-county.com/jmdoddranch It's monitoring the irrigation of our orchard. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
derek02 Posted June 8, 2003 Posted June 8, 2003 If anyone would like to try ICDsoft but is concerned about the speed they may check out my two sites... www.copperheadwd.com www.triadfriendlyhomes.com As far as support goes they average about 15 to 20 minutes to resolve my requests. I am also a tough customer. Believe it or not they actually solved a problem in a php script I had wrote for one of my sites. By the way, I am not a reseller of this company but just very pleased with their service. Their location scares a lot of people away. Derek Cox Furniture factory worker, aspiring millionaire.
