jamesg Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 Please help, I have installed the lates daily snapshot and after a little playing around I have fixed all error messages apart from this one. Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: D:path.... This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. I have removed all permissions on this file apart from the read permission, if I remove that then the site does not work. This warning must be in error! How can it be true if I the file only has read permissions? Or have I missed something Kind Regards
Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 Since it is a security risk, do you have SSL enabled ? If not, that maybe your problem, you would have to set SSL to false. Not to knowledgeable on this but doing a search may turn up your answer.
Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 You need to chmod your /catalog/includes/configure.php file to 644. Do the same for your /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php file.
Melinda Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 :? do some of the instructions on this site and on this board only work once your domain is fully registered? I am working on a temporary url given by my host and I followed your instructions exactly and still get that error msg. I use wsftple to chmod the pertinent php files as per your instructions and made sure to look at the message wsftple gave me to be sure I changed it to the right number. And I still get that error msg able to write to config file. So I wondered if it was because of the temporary url I am using (this isn't the true url but for instance it will be melinda.com once it is registered by right now it is melindacom.powweb.com). Thank you for any advice, I also have tried some of the how tos in the FAQ section, for instance not wanting to have product reviews. I changed per the instructions and yet the product review box still shows :( I have tried several of teh how tos, followed the instructions and even redid them to be sure I did it right and yet I seem to be unable to get most of them to work! Did finally get the password for admin set though after several attempts ;) Melinda
