americamba Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Hi, I think I'm OK up to now. I installed, did permissions, and deleted admin/install. So I have a store, right? Now how do I get everything in Spanish? That is done somewhere, I think. But when I go to Spanish international support but I can't get into their forums (I subscribed etc) to ask the question. I just can't get action to be able to post a query. Nothing moves. So I am asking here. Do I have to translate everything? I don't think so. It must be done somewhere. I was able to get my configuation page into spanish bu that is no big help. I want the customer to deal in spanish. what did I miss? Thanks, Frank
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 You already have spanish , did you see the spanish flag in you catalog ??
americamba Posted June 6, 2003 Author Posted June 6, 2003 Pablo, Thanks, but when I go to http://www.bookslibros.com/catalog, the dummy store that comes up (I haven't done anything with it yet) is all in English. My configuration page is in spanish. How do I get the STORE in Spanish?
americamba Posted June 6, 2003 Author Posted June 6, 2003 Hi again to Pablo and all, when I use languages on the setup page. I pick spanish, I editi, I update etc. but when I go to the catalog, it is back in english.
majik Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 You can set the default language by logging into the admin section and clicking on languages under Localization.
americamba Posted June 6, 2003 Author Posted June 6, 2003 Thanks Majik, That's what I do but it doesn't stick. Let's start from the beginning. I get into the setup screen which I have in Spanish but when I go to localization, then languages and I put in spanish, make it order one, make it predetermined etc. but when I go to catalog, I get the default store as follows: "What's New Here? Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account? This is a default setup of the osCommerce project, products shown are for demonstrational purposes, any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed. Any information seen on these products is to be treated as fictional.....etc" In the store none of the headings are in Spanish. I have made some changes so I guess it IS my store. I have added a dummy product. But how the heck do I get it to be in spanish so I can begin to put my products in? I appareciate the help of the forum.. Thanks, Frank
americamba Posted June 7, 2003 Author Posted June 7, 2003 finally got it. It was ready to go with spanish but you had to click on the flag. I thought that "perdetermine"meant that it would be a new default. My error. I then eliminated english and its ready and a great translation of the buttons and headers. Now I have to find out how to use it. thanks

Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 Hello Frank , Do you speak Spanish ? Excuse me but I was out and I can't answer your previous posts. Actually I am runing a site and I want also to have spanish ( my native language), Oscommerce is very clear were locates every file , for example if you want to edit or change the spanish buttons you have to go to the catalog/includes/languages/spanish/images/buttons and edit or change ( for the same name ) the *.gif files located there. you can also recover you erase files coping again in the current position and editing the configue.php correspondant. You can also edit the header of the pages going to the correspondent file under the language you want to edit. You can also put your spanish page as default, I will check the best way to do that without the need of click in the flag. TIP : you can also change the flags icons changing the icon.gif in each language.

Guest Posted June 8, 2003 Posted June 8, 2003 My Email is [email protected] or [email protected]. You need to be ve ry carefully in the creation of your file for easypopulate, I had try a pair of times and then works for me without problems... Normally when you have a parse error is because you add blank spaces or adds a ) more than the needed , I recomend you to check the line 27 or the lines before comparing with the original file , for compare files and folders I recomend you Beyond Compare ( you can download a Trial verison form http://www.scootersoftware.com/ you can also reach me in msn messenger at [email protected]
