npearson Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Just wanted to mention that there are plenty of people who find being required to state their gender objectionable. There is no reason for an online store to require this. And there are way too many online stores for me to waste my time on one that starts out with this. Incidentally, there are also people who would be unhappy with the date of birth thing. Just a heads up from "a typical potential customer" type.
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Nona, Both of those fields can be switched off in the admin and are only shown as default so that you know they are there. There are times when either or both of those fields could be required.
loxly Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Also there are a large number of sites that use the birthdate field for promotional purposes, in addition to demographic information. You can make the field optional by changing the minimum value in admin to 0. That idea came from BirdBrain and is a great idea. Just remember that there is very little to osc that you can't change to fit your own needs. :) [no external urls in signatures please, kthanks]
aperfecthost Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 I have set the date of birth to 0 minimum and marked it as a field not to show to the customer. However, when I edit the customer in Admin, it keeps telling me it is a required field. Help please!
