orchard Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 You have 's inside of your text, like GamerEvolution's. I think you are supposed to put a in front of them, like this, GamerEvolution's In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 You have single quotes in the define statement. You need to use the escape character on these. Words like Don't have to be written as Don't
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 heh. Thanks for the real quick reply guys. I'll try it out. As I said, I'm totally new. Thanks a lot
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 The define statements can be a combination of php and HTML if you are careful. Just don't try to use any php function calls that were not defined before the language files load.

Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Did you overwrite the code for conditions.php with the language file for conditions.php?
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 now you've confused me. The text you see in my post above is the text I see in NotePad. From there I saved the file as condition.php, and replaced the old condition.php file (in /catalog/) Is there something else I am mean to be doing? Kind Regards Patrick
orchard Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Did you overwrite the code for conditions.php with the language file for conditions.php? It seems like it would be smarter for osCommerce to name the included files slightly different from the main files, like maybe conditions_.php, so there wouldn't be overwriting problems, although you would still need to put stuff in the right directory. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 So is there another file I need to change so the page works? Kind Regards Patrick
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 now you've confused me. The text you see in my post above is the text I see in NotePad. From there I saved the file as condition.php, and replaced the old condition.php file (in /catalog/) Is there something else I am mean to be doing? Kind Regards Patrick You said you loaded the language file that belongs in /includes/languages/english.php into /catalog where the program file for conditions.php is suppose to be. Basically this means you over wrote the program file with the language file ... Reload the /catalog/conditions.php then reload the /catalog/includes/languages/english/conditions.php file into their correct directories and it should fix the problem ...
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 oh. I never though looking in the english directory. The only file I have changes is the one in catalog, not in catalog/includes/languages/english/ Many thanks for the help.
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 I have replaced both file (the one in /catalog/ and the one in /catalog/includes/languages/english/) with the one I have showed you before...Still turns up blank... Patrick
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 There are no define statements in the /catalog/conditions.php The define statements are only in /catalog/includes/languages/english/conditions.php You may wish to look over some of your files and see if you have other code files overwritten with language files.
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 so what does my /catalog/condition.php file should look like?
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 I have replaced both file (the one in /catalog/ and the one in /catalog/includes/languages/english/) with the one I have showed you before...Still turns up blank... Patrick There are two (2) very different files both called conditions.php The code file that belongs in /catalog has all of the tables and php code in it. The language file that belongs in /catalog/includes/languages/english has only the define statements in it. Presently, you have loaded the language file in both locations. Look at your original snapshot and get the code version that belongs in /catalog and it will fix the problem.
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 You can check and find the version that matches your snapshot at: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs...php?sortby=date
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 YES it works. Sorry for the bother, but I'm totally new with this, and I didn't knwo there was a difference between the two. I am very very greatful for your help (all fo you who helped me). Kind Regards Patrick
Ajeh Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Not a problem ... you would be amazed how often someone will do this. The magical white page has many causes ... that is one of them ... :D
