I just started to use cute , I got it to ftp all the files, and I want to know how to ftp just one file , like /catalog/default.php :?

The last I heard (which has been a while) CuteFTP had spyware attached to it. This may no longer be the case (hopefully someone more in the know will respond).

You should be able to just highlight the file you want to transfer and click upload.

Double click www and it will probably show you the files inside of the www folder.

Thanks , I'll try it , can you download one file at a time ?

Yes, you can download one file at a time or an entire folder.

Another FTP program is 3D FTP. It offers multi-threading, skinning, and several other features.

You can also just use IE by going to ftp://[email protected]

This way the user interface is like the normal Windows explorer user interface.

You have to be aware that MSIE is not RFC complient, especially when it comes to FTP.

For instance, it does not respect the Base Dir directive.

Just so you know that you may run into some difficulties every now-and-then when using IE's FTP client.

You mean Microsoft isn't the default standard? :o

But, seriously, on Windows versions before XP, the FTP in IE seems to lock up more than I would like. You also get multiple logins sometimes because I don't think it logs out. If your host has a limit to how many times you can be logged in you may run into problems.

On the up side. You can put your FTP sites into your favorites for quick and easy access. You can also have fun watching the transfer dialog box try to guess how long large transfers are going to take when it obviously has no idea.

O.K. I got ws_ftp_le, I tried ftp.gateway4gifts.net, got all folders,

I tried ftp.gateway4gifts.net/www/catalog/default.php

would not bring it back, I'm I putting in the wrong info to reteive a file? :?

When you tried ftp.gateway4gifts.net it probably showed www as one of the folders on the right side. If you double click it, it should show catalog as one of the folders. If you double click that, it should show default.php as one of the files. With similar clicking on the left side, you should be able to get to the local directory (on your computer) that you want to use. Then you can use the -> and <- buttons in the middle of the screen to transfer files. There should be a ASCII/Binary/Auto transfer mode selection near the bottom of WS_FTP too.
