How can I make the boxes different colors?

I couldn't find any info on this in the search, but does anybody know how to change the boxes so they are different colors? I know how to change the colors in the style sheets, but how do you make it so that boxes are different colors instead of all of them being the same colors? Specifically, for my website, I want the left column boxes to be one color and the right column boxes in a different color. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks All! :D
