beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I just installed a new version of my store and get all these errors on my home page..I have my old store backed up so if I need to replace any of the new w/ th old please tell me..
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 What are some of the errors that you are receiving and where (what pages) are you receiving them? You most likely have an error in your includes/configure.php files. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 Those errors are on the home page, I have others when I go to the products page..I did a new install and used my configure files from my old one as I used the same database..
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 What are the errors? "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Did you use the new application_top.php files or your old ones? "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 My old stors application top doesn't work at all, just get a page full of error messags..
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Well, the problem is that you are missing some filename defines. What version of osC did you download? If it is a CVS version, what is the date of the snapshot? "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 I think I should uninstall the whole mess and start from scratch and let it build a new database..Then I can add all my product info from my old database to the new database.
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 That sounds like a very good idea. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 I think I found the snapshot of my old store..I'll just reinstall it and everything should be compatible with it..I'll just put my configure files and some of my custom store files and they should work..
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 I just installed an older snapshot from Feb but now I'm getting these error messages on the home page: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY/sess_cac3b537c495ff663a8266424d654533, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /home/beachboy/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 67 Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /home/beachboy/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/sessions.php:67) in /home/beachboy/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 67 Warning: The sessions directory does not exist: SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY. Sessions will not work until this directory is created.
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Edit your includes/configure.php files and the last line should be Store Sessions. Set that to mysql. Either that or define the SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY in your includes/application_top.php (or includes/filenames.php) file. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 My config file has that line but my app_top doesn't define the SESSION_WRITE_DIRECTORY How do I do that and where does it go? There are a lot of things defined in it but they all start with define file name or define table..
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 You say that your config file has that line? Would you mind pasting that line so that I can see it? "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Wait a minute. Can we do something that will make your life a lot easier? Create a new database. Download the lastest CVS of osC and install it to the new database. Then let me know what is happening where. Do not use any of the files from your previous version. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 If I do that I'll lose all the products I have listed..Will there be anyway to get those back? Can I copy those tables from my old dadabase to the new one?
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Yes we will copy all of your products and categories over to the new database. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 OK..I'll do it but I guess It will take a long time to get my store back to the way it looked..The new snapshot doesn't come with any themas..I think I can use the styleshhets from my ols tore so that should help some..
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Hey, you do not have to update if you do not want to. I am just trying to give you the easiest path to travel. If you made a backup of your store when it was functioning, then simply restore it and you should be good to go. What was the reason for you trying to update to begin with? "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
beachboy Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 I couldn't list or edit my products. I was getting a error message below the product description box..None of the experts on here could figure it out so I had no choice..I would love to re-install that store because I put a lot of work into it and it looked great!! Want to give it a try??
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 You bet :!: I hate giving up on hard work. I will send you a PM. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds.
