cgchris99 Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I have mentioned this before but it seems either there are a lot of people trying to use OSC or very few people are answering questions. Why doesn't some group of very good developers and installers start a pay group for support. As a business person time is money. When I run into a problem, I need a fix in a reasonable amount of time. A couple of days is too long. If someone started a group and had some competent people, I am sure others would pay a couple a bucks just to get help answering some questions or help fix install problems, or even help with a minor mod. There should be a forum for this. There should also be a forum for recommended merchant account companies, etc.
Guest Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I agree. I understand the idea of a free community etc. but as a customer of a design house who has developed my site based around osCommerce I can say I feel the pinch more than the developers. They have their money and i have a website with a MAJOR problem that no-one has a friken answer to! If some people were being paid to sort out the problem i beleive there would be an answer real quick. Here is the link to the post where i initially asked for help. And yes the problem is still going on! http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46583 Thanks.
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 One suggestion would be to make a post in the Seeking Commercial Help form with a topic of ?Willing to Pay for Support? or something similar. You might get some responses from developers (not team members) that may charge you either per incident or perhaps a monthly retainer (paid up-front of course) that would answer eMails from you regarding your problems in a timely manner. There are plenty of developers available that can assist you but their time is not free. This is just a thought. TempleGroove, your problem sounds like something that would require a serious look-through, which would take some time. The majority of people that come to these forums and help out have a limited time in which to do so. Then they have to get back to doing what pays the bills. In order to determine the problem and make a correction for your issue would probably take longer than the time-period most people have. Not to mention that your site would most likely need to be downloaded. This is probably the reason why you have not received a resolution to your problem. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
