Daemonj Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 osCommerce is multi-platform meaning that it will run on any OS, including Windows. ;) "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. Melissa Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 How can I get a version or how do I install one of the downloads on my Windows operating system?
orchard Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Are you trying to run osCommerce on Windows or just setting it up and administering it using Windows? I think the most common configuration is to have osCommerce installed on a Unix or Linux server and administered using Windows (although since it's web based it doesn't really matter what operating system is doing the administering). If you are installing osCommerce on Windows you need several other software packages installed such as PHP, SQL, and web server software. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
Daemonj Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Indeed, you will need to be using either IIS or download and install Apache. In addition, you will need PHP and MySQL. After that, you would simply extract the osCommerce files into your webserver's folder, run the install script, and you should be good to go.
