elijahweb Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Hi..I'm growing very tired.... My client is P.O'd understandably. I have basically finished the site which has gone from 6500 products to his present day 159,000 products. 65,000 have product images. I had planned on using EZpopulate but my recommendation here by a few helpful individuals..I've decided to just go through phpmyadmin to upload. I tried a test of 10 line items with all the fields and got a spanking saying this: 0000018295Ben Hur 012569507135.jpg24.99B & B Price $17.49You save30 % 3 - May Aug - 00Video VHS Vision Video / Gateway Films0000687529 NO Other Foundation 0000687529.jpg10.95B & B Price $7.67You save30 % 3 - May0Trade Paper MASTER Press0001002651Living Proverbs 0001002651.jpg1.25B & B Price $0.88You save30 % 3 - May0Mass Market Tyndale House Publishers0001132911Passages Of Light 0001132911.jpg19.99B & B Price $13.99You save30 % "Kinkade, Thomas"3 - May0Bonded Leather Nelson / W Publishing GROUP 0001427547Childrens Heroes Of The Bible 0001427547.jpg59.99B & B Price $41.99You save30 % Vision Video3 - May0Video VHS Vision Video / Gateway Films0001432737Wrestling WITH God 0001432737.jpg19.99B & B Price $13.99You save30 % 3 - May0Video VHS Vision Video / Gateway Films0001484648 ALL Rapped Up 0001484648.jpg39.95B & B Price $27.97You save30 % "Holmberg, Eric"3 - May2 - Sep Video VHS Diamante Media GROUP 0005000009 WHERE Jesus Walked 0005000009.jpg12.99B & B Price $9.09You save30 % 3 - May0Video VHS Vision Video / Gateway Films0005000025Witness Of Jehovah 0005000025.jpg19.99B & B Price $13.99You save30 % 3 - May Aug - 00Cloth TextVision Video / Gateway Films0005000033Cromwell 0005000033.jpg19.99B & B Price $13.99You save30 % 3 - May Aug - 00Video VHS Vision Video / Gateway Films MySQL said: You have an error in your SQL syntax. I'm searching for what I have done via books, and here. I saved the Xcel file as a tab delimited text file ...but oops . It no work! Anyoen care to take a stab at this before I do literally! Thanks!! I must finish someday..help please................ Thanks in advance, Keith Ronan
Daemonj Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 That is definitely not going to work. In order to add information to the database using PHPMyAdmin, you have to place the information into a proper sql statement which looks like: INSERT INTO products VALUES (1,32,'MG200MMS','matrox/mg200mms.gif',299.99, now(),null,'',23.00,1,1,1,0); Since you already have the information in an excel spreadsheet, you would be much better off using either Easy Populate or Excel import. If you use Easy Populate, you will need to split the files but that should not be a problem. ;) "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. Daemonj Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Now that I think about it, it might be easier to write a PHP script that walks through the text file and creates the appropriate sql statements into an sql file that can be imported. Ascii Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Hi there Daemonj ... *sigh* The error i am getting is similar to the above: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax near '50")' at line 4 I get this when using the latest "Easy Populate 2.61" contrib with the function file for older Milestones. Talking of which, I am using OSC 2.2 MS 1. Neither could I get "Excel Import" contrib to work. I have just over the 800 products in my database and I was wondering if you last advice would not be less dificult to follow when adding products offline. Please keep advice basic as i am not a fundi at programming etc. PS: I have tried to download the file and upload it straight afterwords (without adding or modifying) - No luck From all the things I lost, I miss my mind the most - Ozzy Ozborne
