Hi there,

I am a novice to osCommerce, and i am tryining to start with it. I downloaded oscommerce-2.2ms1.zip, and unzipped the files. I am trying to create a local host on my pc. I tried to comprehened the steps given int the Installation Guide, but the instructions seems quite vague to me, not detailed. Can anyone help me with the detail steps getting http://localhost/catalog work?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I run oscommerce locally on my pc for testing and development. You'll need to get PHP, Mysql, and Apache running first on your pc. If your using windows, you might look into foxserv at http://www.foxserv.net Foxserv installs all of these for you, somewhat painlessly. There are other bundled programs out there. I have Foxserv running, but just having some connection problem to my oscommerce db that I need to sort out.

Otherwise it works great!

:D

Another supplier of Apache/MySQL/PHP for Windows 32 bit machines is http://www.firepages.com.au. Look for 'phpdev bundles' and 'phpdev FAQ' under Downloads. (Stick to the 4.2.3 until 5 is at least out of beta.)

It is a doddle to instal.
