Guest Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Errr... Getting a blank page... Status: can't be brutal.
timbeckham Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I got a blank page too. Artisans of the Ironwork Guild
Guest Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 lol, thats a pretty brutal comment. It should be back now... I would appreciate the comments, as ive started giving them myself, it would be nice to have a bit of feedback.
orchard Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 It seems to work for me on the second try and worked on the second try when I looked before too. You have to go to the blank page and then hit back and then go to it again. Who knows why? In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
rseigel Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 For starters you might want to read the sticky at the top of this forum: Not only do the general forum rules apply here, but any stores discussed here must have the "Powered by osCommerce" text displayed. Not only are you using osCommerce, but you will also receive valuable advice from the osCommerce community. If your site does not contain this, the posting will be deleted.
orchard Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I hope that means you got past the blank page problem. It wouldn't be fair to expect to see powered by osCommerce on a blank page. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
tcpinhead Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 It looks like the blank page is just a meta redirect. What is the purpose of that?
Guest Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 It looks like Linda message went unread ? http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45779 The_Bear
Guest Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Worked only after a manual refresh. Got to the site finally. Well I do have a few comments about it. Really valuable ones actually. But I couldn't find the 'Powered by OsCommerce' text anywhere! Maybe it's hidden somewhere. I'll post my comments when I see it. In the meantime, seeing that OSC is a great piece of kit, and it's free, and that there are many, many nice people in these forums who have helped me and others out, and that if we don't support open source we're gonna be left in the hands of you-know-who, well, a tiny, tiny link right at the bottom of your pages isn't going to scare customers away, will it? :D
orchard Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 if we don't support open source we're gonna be left in the hands of you-know-whoI in know may mean to support going against the forum rules, but "you-know-who" will help you with problems even if your program doesn't say powered by you-know-who on it ( and even if the problem is really another company's problem such as Adobe, Canon, or Symantec (Norton Anti-Performance) ). I used to try to avoid you-know-who too, until I got tired of Borland, Corel, Quarterdeck, and the other we're not you-know-who companies always blaming problems on each other instead of trying to fix them. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
mattice Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Seeing you repost your shop and still have not displayed the required credentials I've locked this thread - plus the previous one. Mattice "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
mattice Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Unlocked, thanks for fixing that ;) You have a serious problem with your auto-login feature, you might want to disable that as you ALWAYS get a blank page if you are not a registered/remembered user. Mattice "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
Guest Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Yep. After a refresh the status bar shows logoff.php briefly. On the intro page (if you plan to keep it), I'd change the underlined 'Enter Shop' to a nice graphic or at least get rid of the underline in css. The header graphic in home is 2 pixels shorter than in other pages. There's white space on the right-hand side near 'login/register/affiliates". More minutiae: In product Tank shield - Custom moulded, carbon look, check spelling in your description: "...If you want the best protection for yur tank...". And the Forum is comming soon. Nightmare question: How would one run a spellcheck on the entire catalog? ------ The good bits: Really great site overall. Pro. And top marks for 'Save wads on your mods"! lol! Gotta love the 4-4-2-4-4 symmetrical letter spacing. Great slogan! :D
Guest Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 ok i will get these prolems sorted today (thanks for your help) As for the login feature, is there no way to fix this? I like the login boxes.
Guest Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 ok they are all sorted, and i removed my beloved login box :( The default.php table was set to 102% which made the right columb 'slip'out of sight. And the table had the white pixels at the top due to the frontpage image been slightly too big.
Drako Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 if i were u i'll try to use all the page of explorer, and not only the part in the middle of the screen... btw great work on graphics, but the site sometimes works and someother time won't.... and is really slooooow too!! my contribution: Alex's Contributions
