No record of order being placed

I have received an email today confirming that a customer has paid online with his credit card (8 hours previously) but I received no Order process email (this happens occassionally and is not really a problem).


So I went to the Admin area to check his order but there was no record of the customer placing an order. I also checked the orders against his account and it showed 0 of 0 orders.


Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this to happen and how I may be able to prevent it happening again.

What payment processing method did thye use?
