Taxes multiple vendor location & customer location depen

I need a function that can:

- calculate taxes based on BOTH the location of the shipper AND

the customer. (btw, a shipping modules for various carriers that

can do the same - calculate shipping based on BOTH

the location of vendor and customer would be great too)

- depending on location of both shipper and customer tax rates

differ and in some cases are calculated from the product price

in other cases from the total of product price plus shipping cost

Anyware aware of a contribution that can do this?

* we work with multiple vendors from different countries doing

drop shipping to end customers (e.g. vendors from UK, US, Canada)

* our customers are from around the globe

This can create the following example scenarios:

- customer is from EU and orders a product that is drop shipped from

a UK supplier ---> Have to apply 17.5% VAT to total of product cost

and shipping

- same EU customer orders a mix of products, some shipped

from EU some shipped from US ---> need to apply taxes from products

shipped from Europe, none for those from US

- Eu customer orders only products shipped from US or Canada---> no taxes

- customer is from Canada and orders product shipped from Canada supplier. ---> have to apply various Canadian taxes (depending on customer location). No taxes on products shipped from UK or US

- customer is from US, only CA customer have to pay tax, independent of shipping origin (this is "easy" case, supported via standard OSC functionality)

- customer is neither from Canada, not US, nor Europe --->no taxes

(this is also supported via standard oSC functionality)

Any news about it? I am having the same situation. Looking to combine something like you are looking with Virtual Mall Contribution.

Did you find something?

Thanks

No, did not find any solution yet. How would virtual mall address the problem? Wouldn't that mean that you basically need to setup seperate stores bases on vendor (sounds like a lot of work)? Toward customer these seperate stores would be confusing or can it still be made to look like a single store from customer viewpoint?

Let me know what you come up with

What virtual mall does (I still testing it) is assign each product to a store, then when people buy from more than one store, the system sends an email with the order to the mall owner and splits the order between the stores and send an email to each one involved. From the buyer perspective, they still buying from one source. What I need is to be able to calculate shipping charges from the zip code of the shipper to the zip code of the buyer. I learned looking at the post that that will only increase the shipping charges and that I should just charge regular shipping or use the shipping by item contribution. I know taxes works different, but the solution could be the same. Keep me posted, I will do the same.

If any one else have an idea that could help us, please let us know

Martin,

virtual mall sounds like it could do the trick. Here is what you need to do to get shipping charges calculated from address of shipper to address of customer (with Fedex & UPS modules).

Assuming you have one virtual store for each of your vendors (shippers). I don't know virtual store, so I'm assuming that you can

configure different store owners for each virtual store.

If that is the case, then in osCommerce admin Shipping/Packaging configuration section, enter the ZIP code of your vendor instead of your own Zip code - and bingo, now UPS & fedex modules calculate the correct shipping cost. (I've only tested this for vendors located in the US, not sure if it would still work if the vendor

is overseas)
