sneakyimp Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 hello: let me first say this package looks really cool. i have concerns about security. Since the source code of this project is available freely, won't that jeopardize its security, perhaps making it more vulnerable to attack? Can anyone recommend steps that can be taken to improve security when using this product? Any major missteps to avoid? Also, if you implement this software for a client, what sort of legal agreement might one need to protect against liability in the case of online fraud? Parker Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I would think there is no greater risk. The code is open to view it's vulnerabilities, but that also means everyone can see them and they can be rectified quickly. Legal disclaimer templates can be found with a search.
Daemonj Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Unless a hacker can get to where they can modify the code or make a change to it, being able to view it does nothing. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
