Adding an extra text field to description..

This is a pretty big qestion I know... I'v tried to create an extra field to the description area of each product... Im going to be dealing with one of a kind handmade art work and wanted a area that allows me to define thing such as Height Width and depth plus artists name... I want to use a seperate field because I want to put each in its own cell of a table so I can add a background color to them and keep the site looking uniform... do I need to create another field in the catalog database for each text field? If so how would I go about making sure that Im editing the right table in the database... also how would I edit the osCommerce to show extra input fields when I'm uploading the product?
