editing the layout of oscommerce

hi, i want to completly remove the section

 

"whats new Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account? " etc etc

 

(basically the whole text section in the center.)

 

I want to replace it with an image as for example on www.forzieri.com, possibly adding 3 smaller images to the right which link into the site. Is it possible? If so how do i do it?

And your images have to be added in your catalog/default.php

thanx for that bear. Im looking at /catalog/includes/languages/english.php - the heading title would let me change the title but i want to remove the whole section and place an image there.

 

So removing lines from that would only result in the relevant title changing.

 

Isnt that section like a box i could just remove like with the "manufacturers", "languages", "quick search" etc etc?

ok sorry i found how to delete the text still stuck with "welcome guest log in" bit but il find in a second - jus been sittin at a computer too long!!

 

how do i now put the picture in?

ok firstly sorry i managed that late last night - i think it was in the languages bit. either english.php or the main file in the english folder. The way i found that particular line was to put upload the file onto my laptop and search with notepad n then just save it back.

 

while im writing this i have another question too, ive removed the left column and right now trying to get a jpeg or flash file sittin taking up the top/middle screen (as on macromedia or www.fozieri.com). Like them it will have links from this to others sections of the site and i also need this to change according to what catergories the users on. n e ideas?

 

i also want to change the products page from a listing, id prefer just a jpeg shown in a grid format so say 4 across and 4 down. n e ideas?
