Newbie installing PHP scripts..help me please

This is my first attempt at installing a PHP script. I need help. I successfuly updated mySQL database..Not I am having problems in the file application_top.php. I need help configuring this program. I own a computer shop and anyone that helps me I would be willing to help them. I will trade one piece of hardware for the help of installing this shopping cart.

I do not have a configure.php file under catalog/includes/configure.php...I do have one for admin/includes/configure.php.... what do I do? how can I find this file I need. I have unzipped the file several times to find I still am missing the one configure.php file.

I have a database up on DotEasy hosting - I get the follwing message when trying to install:

 

"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"

 

I have put my database server as: localhost - thats the only thing I guessed - can anyone help me, I cnat find anywhere what my database server should be for DotEasy hosting!
