AndrewR Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Can anyone tell me why some of my customers cannot create an account. This is on 2.2 MS1 . They say they get into a dialogue loop, I tell them to enable cookies but the problem persists. They are on all sorts of OS and Browser Versions, IE3, 4, 5, 6, W2K, W95, XP, allsorts. I even created an account for one customer and sent him the login info and he couldn't login either. Many customers have done this successfully (35 so far) and I've NEVER seen the problem myself using IE6 on XP Pro. I can't find any reference to this in the helps or forums. Would _really_ appreciate the help, thanks Andy www.home-control.co.uk/products
AndrewR Posted May 28, 2003 Author Posted May 28, 2003 I've now found out that nobody can create an account, the final submit of details results in a loop on the create_account_process.php page. This page is original from my Nov 2002 installation and so cannot be the problem. I have updated customers.php recently and whos_online for a contributions with flags which seems to work ok. I also attempted to remove DOB from the create account process, but that only involved one word change from true to false (which I've since restored) but I notice the DOB field is still missing from the Create account page, could that be the problem? If so where is the field generated from? Is there a debug mode I can switch on? Can anyone help please?
Martijn Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I noticed this problem also, It took me a reinstall and some minutes before I noticed that your have to enter the DOB as 'month/day/year' instead of 'day/month/year' . It would be a bit more clear when OSC would have returned an error about this, instead it lets you think the process page is in a loop or something. :!:
Guest Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Andrew, I was just on your site and was able to create a new account with no problem using Netscape7......I would suspect that it is a problem with HTTP 1.1. There is an .htaccess file in the original downoad that MUST be used in your catalog directory that forces the use of HTTP 1.0. Check and see if that file is in your catalog directory.
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 hi hope i might get some help here thingers crossed just read last post about the .htaccess file had to remove it to get the padlock to work and have no probs with ms1 now trying a snapshot 18/5 for the sec addin but getting a looping cart no loging etc dosent seem to hold the names/sessions any help or a pointer in right direction would be appercated
