m1ndeater6 Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Hi all, I starting up a shopping system, and have decided to go OS Commerce. I am having problems though, on deciding which version to install? 2.1 release; stable, but old 2.2 Snapshot; up to date, but potentially unstable 2.2 Milestone 1; up to date, most likely stable At the moment, I am thinking of the 2.2 MS 1. It is up to date with the new features including I believe a much easier web-based installer which would be easier for me. The only drawbacks is that since it has been out for a shorter period of time, there may be bugs etc. but I don't think it will be that much of a problem. I would like to have a few other opinions on the subject; go with the most stable? Take the stable new release? Or, go with the newest possible and take the risk? I do want to make sure my site stays accessible and smooth though, and of course need stability. Thank you ahead of time for the advice. Chris
Chris Moore Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 I have just put my companies site live at http://www.ferno.com.au and it works well. I had no prior php experience (html only) and with the help of others from this forum (+ mainly Linda McGraths contributions) and my site host, Steve (snowman) at http://www.alpinehosting.net have had minimal heartaches! I can't speak highly enough of OScommerce or the people connected with it! I only have to work out a couple of minor details and I can relax and actually spend some time learning about what I've just created! :? Life is a highway!
m1ndeater6 Posted May 27, 2003 Author Posted May 27, 2003 So, Os commerce is the best, but which version to use is still the question? Anyone with suggestions? Thanks
Chris Moore Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 The latest version you can get your hands on! I've got the milestone but I only use it for providing quotes so the latest additions are not needed! I'll upgrade when any new features determine the need! Life is a highway!
