Nice menu, how is it done?

I came across this site http://www.mastermods.com and I really like the way that the menu has a graphic for the main section rather just plain text.

 

Could someone explain to me how this kinda thing would be done?

Did you try to put the HTML for the graphic as the category name instead of text? That's all it looks like to me. :wink:
