americamba Posted May 24, 2003 Posted May 24, 2003 Hi guys, got to step 3 but got stopped with this message: ........................................... New Install Step 1: Database Import Warning: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in /home/virtual/site211/fst/var/www/html/catalog/install/includes/functions/general.php on line 47 The following error has occurred: SQL file does not exist: /var/www/html/catalog/install/oscommerce.sql any ideas for this poor soul? Thanks, Frank :(
♥olby Posted May 25, 2003 Posted May 25, 2003 Either you didn't upload the install-dir completely, and the oscommerce.sql file is missing in that. Or: the path in the installation is wrong. Don't change the path's unless you know why  . Best Regards olby
americamba Posted May 25, 2003 Author Posted May 25, 2003 Olby Thanks, I thought I entered my data in correctly but I got the following error message again! Warning: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in /home/virtual/site211/fst/var/www/html/catalog/install/includes/functions/general.php on line 47 The following error has occurred: SQL file does not exist: bookslibros.com/catalog/install/oscommerce.sql ..................... But the oscommerce.sql IS present so I must have done wrong the path in the installation as you suggest. As a matter of fact, I have no idea of what I should enter on page 1 of the instalation. I try to follow the guide but I am not sure. This is what I put in: WebServer Root Directory. usually /home/myname/public_html. I entered: bookslibros.com Webserver Catalog Direcotry usually /home/myname/public_html/catalog/. I entered: /catalog/ Webserver Administration Tool Directory usually /home/myname/public_html/catalog/admin/. I entered:/catalog/admin/ WWW Catalog Directory usually /catalog/. I entered: /catalog/ WWW Administration Tool Directory usually /catalog/admin/. I entered: /catalog/admin/ Database Server I entered: localhost then username, password and databasename... Any help would be appreciated. I know I am entering in the wrong info for the webserver entries but I have tried all permutations Thanks, Frank
Guest Posted May 25, 2003 Posted May 25, 2003 I don't think osc works in safe mode. You need to get in touch with your host about that. You could also try searching these forums for *safe mode*. Its something that has come up quite a few times.
americamba Posted May 25, 2003 Author Posted May 25, 2003 Hi, I checked on safe mode in search as suggested. The solution seems to be to turn it off. But I don't know where. I search for the file php.ini and can't find it. The following was a response. Seems authoritative but how? ............................ php.ini.... Code: safe_mode=off [/code] ......................... Thanks, Frank
♥olby Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 php.ini is a systemfile, and unless you are on your own server, you have to contact your ISP, to make this change. Best Regards olby
