Guest Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Hi, Have never installed a shopping cart, but a few advanced message boards (if that counts...). Downloaded the cart to my Mac to open and look at the files, but there's not even a "read me" there. Can someone point me to a guide? TIA Dan
Booker Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Just as a side note, on your macintosh, some of the file names may not be complete. Macs have something like 30 characters max for a file name, and some of the files in this program have longer names than that. If you have access to a windows machine, it would benefit you to check the names on the longer files to get them right after uploading to your server.
Guest Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Booker, The Bear, Thanks both! Exactly what I needed (I think.). Yes, I've got a PC, too, and will check the files there even if I've got MacOSX allowing 255 characters in most files. But I assume I will upload to server and see what happens... wish me luck. Thanks Dan
Guest Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 :( Well, it didn't start out too well. In the beginning, this Wiki tutorial points to a file: /catalog/includes/configure.php or (?) in /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php That file doesn't exist. At least not in the version of OSC I have (tep-pr2.1 ) Perhaps there's some other tut aswell somewhere? Dan
Guest Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Thanks for heads up. I got the impression that 2.1 was the latest stable version... But at the site, they're saying: <quote> As the changes can be made on a daily basis, the stability of the codebase may become problematic on certain daily snapshot releases.<quote /> ..which makes me - a newbie - somewhat nervous. Is there any snapshot that's better than other? If so, which? And were can I find it? Sorry for being a PITA... Dan
sgflowers Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 latest version is fine it is stable i am using it currently 05/20 or 05/21 last update to files was actually 05/22 and there are as allways bug fixes and enhancements happening continuously
