drakonan
I wouldn't see why you couldn't, but the tables aren't offset with some name... (atleast in my osC version) products are sorted in the "products" table, not "osc_products" and neither are any of the others. I've got 50 different fields in my database, so it won't be pretty. Your answer: It'll work, it'll be kind of in a mess though. Your host only supports one DB? Maybe you might think about another. - - - - Sometimes, ignorance is bliss. Guest
I've installed it along side XOOPS and NUKE with no problem. The only problem you might have is if you have redundant tables So if you were to installl two catalogs, the table prefixes would have to be some thing like osc and osc1. the prefixes are the key
drakonan
I didn't know you could add table prefixes. It must be a new feature of the newer snapshots. I've already got to update osC again. - - - - Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.
Guest
the two hosting companies i use both offer unlimited datbases as well as unlimited otherthings. The thing is, you manage these your self through cpanel, so if you need a db...just whip one up right in the kitchen sink. that takes a lot of the headach out of hosting, and cheap too... hows 200MB for 20$ year with all the bells and whistles? oh yeah 6GB bandwidth... There are some outstanding deals out there, but for me, service and support are the decieders, if some one drops the ball during a month long test run, I move on. If they want a years $ upfront...forget them, they will never perform in the long run.
drakonan
Who is your host :) I'm ready to pay myself!!! It costs me $25 a MONTH (for 500mb, 30g bandwidth) I was allowing for growing room... But my site (with all kinds of backups and other non-necessary-to-be-on-host files) and maybe 1 gig (max) a month bandwidth. - - - - Sometimes, ignorance is bliss. josheli
unless a new perpetual motion, buck rodgers, break-the-laws-of-physics server has been developed, there's no such thing as "unlimited" anything. a hard disk only has a limited amount of space, and cables can only have a limited amount of bandwidth. all the hosts are doing is overselling their space/bw, knowing that 99% of the people out there use less than 25mb space and 5mb of bandwidth for pictures of their kids and whatnot. i would be wary of anyone selling "unlimited". choose based on service and quality instead. you'll be thankful in the long run.
