noteability
Is there anyone out there that has used Oscommerce as a point of sale system and how did you do it? If not, would anyone suggest the best way? Joe
rseigel
OSC would be a poor choice as a POS system IMHO. :?
noteability
But the problem is that It is the choice of solution for the E-commerce site and what some of my clients want is to be able to hook into it from their physical shopfront too and have the inventory centrally updated. They want to be able to input transactions via bar code reader as well as being able to allow people to transact over the web. I would not consider it as a POS system but having the capabilities to accept POS transactions - any other ideas? I would love to be able to make it work - would be even happier if someone else has thought of how to do it. Joe

Kristofor
ok, this is really good idea, i want something like that, where i can bve on my computer at my shop right, and then just click on something, enter the clients email, then if they dont exist, get a new account created, but, then i go straight to my products, and can access my product database from my computer, this is a great idea lets make it work Don't die with the music in you!!! Failure is just another boundary to sucess!!! But that doesn't mean your getting somewhere...
noteability
How can we make it work? Anyone interested in doing it? You'd have to be pretty darn good at this stuff though! I admit I find the task daunting Joe
Kristofor
hi, i dont believe ud have to be good at it, all i rekon we need to do, is to have a thing on a local computer, that connects to a remote database, and on that thing we only use a list of categories, that is pulled from the normal osc, database, and the products in the categories, are also pulled from the database, then, when u get all ur items in ur basket, u click, process or something, then it asks for the customers email, then u input that, and it pulls the customers details out of the database, if they exist and use them to make a detailed invoice, but if it doesnt exist, it goes to make a new account, and u can sign the person up, and then they will be sent a default email password which they can change when they get home, then it pulls this new information and uses it to create an invoice, doesnt sound that difficult, hehehe, but im not to good with php code yet, but thats the general idea Don't die with the music in you!!! Failure is just another boundary to sucess!!! But that doesn't mean your getting somewhere...
