I sthere like a newbie guide somewhere that I can visit, more of a "OScommerce for dummies" guide :-) ? 3. credit card processing: I imagine that you need to setup an account with a credit processor correct? spin
1. Is this easy to setup. I know a little bit of HTML and all that but his seems a little complicated. Getting osCommerce up and running is fairly easy. The more working knowledge of servers, html, php, etc. that you have, the easier (and more secure) this will all be for you. This community is an excellent resource for questions and problems. You can certainly see by the number of posts here how many people are helping, and how many contribution add-ons exist for osC. 2. I sthere like a newbie guide somewhere that I can visit, more of a "OScommerce for dummies" guide :-) ? There is a nice FAQ distributed with the download, and there are tons of questions and answers already within these forums, fully searchable and viewable at any time. There is also an online demo of a functioning store. Documentation is in the todo list, and will be a welcome addition to an already excellent cart system. 3. credit card processing: I imagine that you need to setup an account with a credit processor correct? There are a lot of options here, from something as simple as integrating with PayPal for your transaction processing to integrating with your own payment gateway, e.g. Authorize.Net or 2CheckOut. You could also make your shop able to accept money order, fax, and mail orders with a little tweaking and possibly some of the community contributions depending upon your needs. I know it sounds like a lot of work, and for someone not familiar with web programming it is a bit difficult. If you are eager to learn, this place is a gold mine of information and a priceless resource. Chances are, if you need to ask it, someone here probably already has ... so be sure to use the "search" feature of these forums! Good Luck and Kindest Regards! Orphon
1. Is this easy to setup. I know a little bit of HTML and all that but his seems a little complicated. I started a few months ago with basic HTML knowledge.... a lot of this isn't hard.... there is a lot of help here and most things you can do if you follow directions.... It would be easier at times if I knew the language, but mostly for odd things I might want to change here and there... 2. That should get you started :D I am really just a newbie myself, but learning quickly :) Angela
