catalog can't find includes / admin won't show

Hello,

 

i think this is partly a paths problem, but can't seem to resolve it.

 

I have followed the installation instructions off the wiki site.

 

After installation, for the catalog home page i get the following error:

 

Warning: main(includes/functions/sessions.php) [function.main]: failed to create stream: No such file or directory in /home/my_user_name/public_html/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 148



Fatal error: main() [function.main]: Failed opening required 'includes/functions/sessions.php' (include_path='/usr/local/lib/class.phpmailer.php:/usr/local/lib/class.smtp.php') in /home/my_user_name/public_html/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 148

 

this line that it refers to is the first reference to the 'DIR_WS_CLASSES' and other directories.

 

I haven't altered the lines in the configure.php - the set properties all look right.

 

and for the admin page:

1046 - No Database Selected

select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

[TEP STOP]

 

my structure is the standard:

public_html/catalog/admin/

 

I'm stumped :( Can anyone please advise?
