Magnus Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Please someone help me!!!! I need an import utility to import a list of products from an excel File!! I've tried easy populate installed it uploaded files to it and it even says file uploaded! then I click categories and products and i still have NO products!!!! I tried import utility 1.51 and I pretty much had the same problem even on occassions when it said it did upload! Can someone please help ME!!! Seriously I just need this ONE feature and thats it I'd like never even come back here again to bother you all can somone PLEEEEEEEASE HELP!!! I've SEARCHed the ENTIRE SITE PleASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gata Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Hi Magnus, There are lots of threads on EZ Populate in the contributions section. Here are some things that I found helpful. 1. Start fresh- clean out your database- delete all of the products that you have uploaded- use phpmyadmin. 2. Add some test products through your admin- three or four at least. 3. Download the EZ Populate test file to edit. Look at it in Excel. Save as tab delimited txt and try to re-upload it. You can then try and change a bit of the information in excel for each product and do it again- you should see the products "updated". If all of that works- you have installed it properly and now can start working with your real product data. 4. Now, look at your original Excel file, and think of how to merge your data into the OScommerce database structure. You will need to have the same field names as the "test" file you downloaded. If you are going to add fields- wait to get the default working first, and then mess with that later. Read the "READ ME" file from the contribution for more troubleshooting tips. 5. Make sure your products all have unique model numbers. Each one must be different. Each product must end with the last field EOREOR.

When someone helps you then you come back here and help someone else out. That is just the way it works. Second, as far as easy populate goes make very certain that all of the fields are in the excel file and that each line has the end of line marker. Just let me know if you have any categories and/or products already entered into your database or if the excel file has everything.
