..just move the entire contents of the catalog folder up one level so that you can access your store with www.yourdomain.com or is there some extra stuff needed to do to some of the files?

Yes, you can put all of the files and folders contained in your catalog folder into your public_html folder.

 

You will need to edit your catalog/includes/configure.php file and modify all of the path statements accordingly.

If you still have the install folder, the easiest thing to do would be to move the folders and then run the install but do not select to import the database.

 

Most people typically move the admin folder into the catalog folder, or in this case the public_html folder.
