Magnus Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Hiya I downloaded The Exchange Project Preview Release 2.1 (03/06/2001) Then I saw theres another called os commerce ms 2.2 Am I supposed to download that? or the one I downloaded from the downloads page?
Daemonj Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 That depends upon what you are looking for. The Exchange Project 2.1 is the only officially finished version. For the next version (2.2) the name was changed to osCommerce (open source Commerce). This version is still under development and there are 2 types of downloads. The MileStone1 version is stable and is the baseline for all future development of the 2.2 version. The CVS version is the results of the daily changes that are made to the 2.2 version as a result of the continued development. It is perfectly save and highly suggested to use the osCommerce 2.2 MS1 (MileStone1) version if you are starting with osC. It has a LOT of features that the TEP (The Exchange Project) v2.1 does not have and a lot of contributions as well. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. Magnus Posted May 16, 2003 Author Posted May 16, 2003 Does it have import from excel features? coz my products are all in excel and I used something like that and csv to import it in? Will it work with milestone 2.2?
Daemonj Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 There are 2 contributions (probably more) that will assist you with importing your products from an excel file. The first is Easy Populate and the other is the Excel importer. Go to the contributions section and do a search for excel and they should all appear. Magnus Posted May 16, 2003 Author Posted May 16, 2003 Awesome where can I download them? Do you have the urls?
Daemonj Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Go to the Contributions page and enter Excel in the search box. Look through the results and pick the ones that you like or want to try out. ;) "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. Guest Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 dang... i already downloaded and installed cvs 05/11/03 but haven't done anything yet, except configure some of the admin stuff... do you think i'll run into problems "major problems" if i install some Contributions?
Daemonj Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 No, you won't run into any problems. The CVS version is typically stable but cannot be identified as such because all of the changes are not fully tested. ;) You will be fine with the CVS version and if you run into anything just post it here and somebody will help you. :) "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds.
