elijahweb Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Hi..I am doing a 125,000 product bookstore and am needing to figure out how to take the retail price that the database has for all the products and show the client's price as well. There are about 5 categories that will all have different percentages off which determines each product's price. ie bibles will be 25% less than what the retail price and DVD's will be 20% less than the retail showing. He wants it to say retail price: $45.99 and "Client's Price" $30.00. What is the best way for me to accomplish doing this for 125,000 products. I don't feel like typing in the whole column by hand into the database!! :-) I have to believe there's a way to say..categorie "bibles" is 25% off in a batch way and have it fill teh database field in Excel, or maybe somehow in osCOmmerce???/ Help Thanks Thanks in advance, Keith Ronan
Guest Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 In my understanding, there is only one price field, and that is the selling price. To handle this problem myself, I include "SRP $25." in my item description.
Guest Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Another way to do it (although less feasible considering the size of your catalog) would be to have everything on "special". This would display an original price with a line through it, and then the "sale" price. Alternatively, look for a contribution in the downloads section.
Guest Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 there are a whole host of mods available to do this, i believe there is a discount by category module available in the download sections. but as the other reply said, the easiest way is to set the product up as a special, you will prbably need to make a admin page of your own though like we have had to do on our site as once you get past 3000 products admin behaves like a tortoise chasing a hare! We are working on our own admin page that allows you to link multiple products to multiple categories all on one page without the need to keep pressingt eh admin update, it would be a fairly simple process for you to get someone to make a page using the same principals. Sometimes it pays to make your own admin pages to do things as you want them to do. OSC is the best thing we have ever seen but it will never do everything for everyone, that would be impossible.
