Guest Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Hi, I usually access myphaadmin from the online control panel that was installed by my hosting provider. For 2 days now it's been offline, but ftp works and my site is available. Does anyone know how to get to phpmyadmin bypassing the control panel? (sorry for being a little OT, but I hope some of you out see php - sql - osc as one big subject) Thanks
Daemonj Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 What exactly has been offline, your server's control panel or the link to PHPMyAdmin? Regardless, the first thing you should do is contact your host's support department and get that problem resolved. To access MySQL from the shell, just type mysql -u [username] -p[password] [database] and that will get you in. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. Guest Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Thanks for the helpful reply. Unfortunately, even my host's page is offline! I know, unbelievable. Even more unbelievable that my site is not offline. (Host: http://www.gisol.com not that I want anything bad to happen to them... :) hope it's temporary) Anyway... please excuse my ignorance: by 'shell' you mean telnet access, correct?
Daemonj Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Is your host's support site down as well or do they have a phone number they can be reached at? If it has been like this for 2 days and still going, I would suggest looking for a new host. ;) By shell, I mean a command prompt that is connected to either via telnet or secure shell. Guest Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 I know... new host... I've only been with them 2 months and I've paid the first year already  . I'm in Italy so I don't really want to fix this with intercontinental phone calls... As I said, I really do hope it's temporary. Whatever. I'll try the shell thing. Thanks!
josheli Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 you can access phpMyAdmin directly with a URL. you just need to find out what it is. i imagine they're different for different hosts/servers, so i won't bother posting what my phpmyadmin url is.
