I converted the AllProds contribution to the AllCategories contribution. I am now considering morphing it into my All_Subs contribution installation so all my sub-categories (which are always listed on every page) point to URLs that have the keywords within the URL.

So... one question I have is this: I know Google considers how many URLs point toward "you" when it ranks you. Now do these URLs have to be outside of your own domain or do you own URLs help you? I've had good luck with having hard coded sites with menus that point to URLs within the site, but I can't say for certain that it had an impact or if I was getting good ranking anyway.

Looking for some opinion before starting the morph of the code.

Thanks!

Quote from Google's own explanation of pagerank:

PageRank Explained

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."

Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query.

Cool! Thanks, Daniele!

So, if I'm reading this correctly, Google does NOT toss out URLs within the same domain and by those URLs hopefully having quality and relative content, they should enhance the ranking by being a "good voter".

I tweaked the Show_Subs install and I got it to use the keyword-stuffed URLs so now all my pages will have sub-categories listed and linked to all my sub-category pages which are loaded with my custom meta-tags, alt text, etc. Sounding like a really good recipe for pages to be "voted for" by "good voters" - all within the same domain!

Thanks again!

No problemo.

I think that it would still help to get listed in as many directories and search engines and possible, even the ones that are'pass?' or that don't receive many hits.

If you can submit for free, that is.

Good luck
