CGI timeout error....

This error message ocurred while attempting to do a backup on a large OSC database. I've seen this question posted in an archived topic, but the answer is not applicable to my configuration, so here goes...

 

Environment:

MS Windows NT4.0 sp6a+

Web server running IIS 4.0 on NT4.0

DB Server running MySQL on NT4.0 (forgot the version and too lazy to look) :oops:

 

ERROR:

The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process.

 

PS: Since this question was not fully answered for the windows environment and I had to research it myself, I thought I would post the short result.

 

In the MMC right-click on the server icon and click on properties.

Then click on the edit button for the www service.

Then click on the home directory tab.

Then click on the configuration button.

Then click on the process options tab.

Set the value for CGI timeout in seconds (located near the bottom).

Click OK three times and you're done! :)

 

Hopefully this will help someone get "unstuck" as I can think of no place more critical (in the commercial world that is) requiring a good backup regimen than an e-commerce web site... :wink:
