patrickrj Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 Using osCommerce 2.2-MS1 I have experienced the following... An order has been placed by a customer and when viewing the order in the admin area, all of the order information was correct (billing, shipping, payment, etc.) EXCEPT for the customer information. AND the user who actually placed the order (based on the billing & shipping info) doesn't have an account set up. Has anyone else experinced this?
Guest Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Yes! I also have this problem... and then some! Just had a customer complaint that she opened an account and has received confirmation of two orders. None of which were made by her. Looking at the two orders they're for two different people. Also, have another customer complaint. They tell me they ordered one item, but the item listed in they're order is different to what they've ordered. I have carried out several test orders myself and can't recreate the problem. The trhing that concerns me is how are people places these orders if they don't have an account? Or am I just not seeing the account? My site is at... http://www.thedvdchart.com/catalog/default.php Any help on this would be most appreciated!
singspiel Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 I have had the same thing happen on my site twice now! In both cases of this happening the customers had account its just there order was put on someone else's account. This other customer recieved email confirmation etc. This has to be quite a serious bug in OSCommerce. How busy are your shops? My shop receives around 60 orders a day with a peak of about 100, I checking into whether this happens at peak times and it being a server overload. Any team members have any ideas? Nev Osborn
wizardsandwars Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 The only way I know of that will solve this issue for sure is to require customers to have 'cookies enabled' This problem is usually a problem with the session is in the url string for 2 customers purchasing at the same time. The latest version of OSC has a option to require cookies to be enabled, and offers the customer and explaination why. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
Guest Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Hi Nev, The store is receiving around 10 orders per day. Looks like I've fixed it as it hasn't been duplicated since I disabled safe_mode and replaced it with open_basedir and also removed the BUY NOW option. Don't know which one fixed it, but I haven't had a single issue since I made this change.
singspiel Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Hi Simon, Thanks for your reply how and where did you make these changes? It just happened again, customer was extremely angry. Thanks Nev
aspen Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I am getting this once per day about, so annoying. Customers get pissed, think their identity has been stolen. Anyone want to elaborate on a fix? 2.2 ms1 here.
