Guest Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 To be sure that the system will work ok, make an order in your shop, using PayPal IPN as the payment module. Once you are redirected to the PayPal Payment Page, just get away from there and go to your Admin. Set Test_Mode to ON (in Admin->Modules->Payment->PayPal_IPN and then go to Admin->PayPal_IPN->Send_Test_IPN In "Item_Number" you should insert the order_id of the test order you just made in your shop. Then make the payment, and if EVERYTHING is ok you should receive your email

Guest Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 With the normal paypal option there is a probablility for user error. When a customer arrives at paypal, if they don't click the Continue button to return to your store, OSCommerce will not record the order at all. You will get a payment notice from paypal, but not know what the order is for. With the Paypal IPN contribution, it records the order as Paypal Pending before the paypal payment.

Guest Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 Be careful. Many people have absolutely no trouble with the IPN, but I am battling with it right now. So make sure you back up and it might pay to do it on a test store first.
chfields Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 I believe there is a contribution you can add to regular Paypal module that will include the item information in the e-mail from paypal even if they don't click continue. I just don't remember what it is called. I have it and just tested it. I will post again if I can find it.
chfields Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I found the thread that has the code for showing your products in the e-mail you get from paypal confirming payment even if they don't click continue and come back to your site. However, it will not fix the problem of the order not showing up in admin in your store. Hope this helps.
