Administration Authentication - A method

If like me you couldn't get .htaccess in Apache to function 'at all no-matter what', or just want a better user authentication system then click this link:

http://www.beanbug.net/Scripts/vAuthenticate_3.0.zip

I had to put the Oscommerce 'Admin' folder into a subfolder of vAuthenticate (where the demo's reside) for it to work. Apart from that installation was quite straight forward.

Alternatively, Hotscripts.com/php/scripts and programs/user authentication has 110 scripts to try for yourself.

I honestly think that setting up OSCommerce administration authentication can be a major stumbling block, (especially for newbies) and that an integrated administration facility should become A MUST!

Regards, Dave.

I've never tried .htaccess, but every host I have ever worked with had password protected directories that could be setup through their control panel or a similar web site administration page.

In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
