itbejared
yes, but hosting yourself saves the dollars... who do you guys use for hosts?
Guest
Jared, Hosting questions are better answered somewhere other than the forum. the forum rules prohibit commercial postings and everytime someone brings it up the spammers come out of the woodwork. There are very inexpensive hosts available. You need PHP, MYSQL, enough space and bandwidth to take care of your store. SSL is a neccessity, in my opinion. Then you also need mail service and any other "extras" you might want, autoresponders, other free scripts, etc. Everyone has their own needs too. Do some research. itbejared
well needless to say, I can't use the host I had for OSC cuz they wouldn't enable "register globals" so I figured I would use them for email.. Well turns out thats not working either. Looks like its time to get a new (and much improved) host.
itbejared
Ok... I need some Sendmail help here. I need to get this fixed right here and right now... and in order to do so, I need to run email from my server at home. As of yet, I haven't been able to send any email from my store and when I try it hangs.. I need to know what I need to change in sendmail to see if i can't get this configured properly on my side of things.. I hate depending on others. If anyone has any idea they would be MUCHLY appreciated! Thanks you guys!!!
itbejared
I am having nothing but problems with my email... I have a hosting company that is absolutely horrible so thats when I desided to host from my home back.. Well I figured I paid for the service so I might as well use the email side of things. Needless to say.. that's not working either. Well can't trust anyone else, so I am going to do the email from my home box also. I called Comcast and they said there wasn't any filtration on thier side that would prevent my emails being sent. So there must be some setting somewhere in sendmail that I am using.. I am new to sendmail and knowlegdable in the sendmail ways  I am beggin.. If anyone can help, I would be forever greatful! This gets tiring after awhile... lol

orchard
Some POP servers don't accept email from unknown IP addresses in an effort to prevent SPAM, so you may not be able to send mail from a server running from your home. orchard
Have you tried sending mail using your internet connection's SMTP server(dialup, DSL, or whatever) instead of your host's SMTP server?
