Can I...?

Hello, I've been using oscommerce for a while, but now someone wants me to create a catalog for them. I was wondering, is it possible to remove the shopping cart, and only display the price, image, and availability?

If it is, may I ask how? If not, is there a catalog that anyone knows of that I can use?

Thank you,

N. Veryha

Thanks The_Bear.

osCommerce 2.2MS1, usual installation, but I was wondering if I can remove the shopping cart option, and kind of have just the images with a discription, and quantaties.

The reason for this is because the company is wholesale, and doesn't ship right off the bat, but has has to be ordered in bulk, and they want it done via offline, not online.

So, we would have the product list on the left, the prices removed, and if possible, the buttons and buy links all removed permanently.

Thank you,

N. Veryha

Nick,

Yes, it is possible to make osCommerce function as just a catalog. The easiest way is to simply comment out or remove the links/buttons that go to the catalog functions. If your good with the code you could go ahead and remove the associated functions too.....You might want them down the road however, so I would leave them.

I'm not sure what you are asking when you asked about buying a license. You can use/sell/modify OSC as you please as long as you comply with the terms of GPL that it is realeased under and follow the copyright rules.

Great, thank you BirdBrain. I've managed to gather some experience, and I've rearanged the layout. Removed the links, and what not as well.

As for the license, what I actually meant, is it possible to buy a copy that does not have powered by on it with out breaking the users agreement?

Thank you again,

Nick,

As long as you have changed the look of the catalog sufficiently you do not have to have the "powered by" but, why would not want to show your pride in a great program? If this was a commercial piece of software, there would be no choice...

Further details and clarification of the copyright issues can be read in the forum dealing with the GPL
