dlink
I did a really stupid thing today. I had walked away from setting up my store a couple of weeks ago because this is just not my thing and I was frustrated... Well I came back to it today and I edited the default.php file to just change the intro text. Stupid thing that I did was uploaded it to the main directory instead of to the /includes/languages/english directory. Now when you click on catalog I have a blank page... nothing there at all. Can I get back the default.php that belongs in the main catalog folder? This oscommerce is an autoinstall from my webhost and I really really do not want to start from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have all my modules set up and several other things that I don't want to do over if I dont have to. Ajeh
Just upload the proper default.php file to the catalog ... then upload your language file where it belongs.
dlink
But there in lies my problem. I don't have that file. I only downloaded from my site the files that I needed to edit. :( and that wasn't one of them. I KNEW I wasn't supposed to edit that file so I didn't download it. I'm afraid that my only answer is to delete the oscommerce thru my website manager and then put it back in and redo all the stuff I already had done. I was hoping that that file was kinda a generic thing that I could get somewhere instead of scrapping the whole store I had done and starting over. Jason Jacobs
If you overwrote it, it's gone. But you can probably get that file from someone on here with the same version you have. You'll have to re-edit the file probably, but it sure beats redoing the whole thing. And now you know you should always have complete backups of your sites :) -j
M@rcel
And if you have to ask your isp to re-install, make sure you have your changed files downloaded. Then you only need to upload your changes again. And backup, backup, backup. And for the database: Backup, backup, backup 8) Greetings from Marcel |Current version|Documentation|Contributions|
dlink
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I really wasn't very far along but ohhhh it took me so long to do what I had done that I couldn't even fathom having to start over! I got the correct file and its uploaded and everything seems to be working just like it should. Thank you sooooooo much and Jason  I do have all my pages on my site backed up... just never did this yet as I had not finished it and didn't think I would ever have such a blonde moment as I did today and do something sooooooo stupid. Thanks again
Ajeh
Debbie ... wanna guess how common that issue is of overwritting either a code file with a language file or a language file with a code file? I cannot begin to count the number of threads on that ...
Jason Jacobs
Heh...I try to never have files open to edit that aren't in the same directory as the rest open. And if I have to open a file of the same name, I close all of my other files. :) Even then sometimes it doesn't prevent blunders. -j
