Selecting multiple options...

I am wondering if it is possible to allow the customer to select multiple options from the same option value. For instance, I sell a computer. The computer has multiple CD Drive upgrades available. If the customer wanted a CD-RW and a DVD player instead of the standard CD-ROM, they would need to select two of the options in the CD Drive Upgrades option category. Currently it is a drop down box that only allows one selection. Perhaps it coule be a static option box that allows multiple selections or a list with radio buttons. Is it easy to change the layout like and can you use form elements in php code?

You can see an example of this on my website under computer systems.

The only other option is to create another option called CD Drive Upgrade #2 and I think that will look kind of crappy. Perhaps there is a way to make it open the Upgrade # 2 only if a selection is made in the initial upgrade option.

I know I seem to be rambling, but this OSC is really awesome and I have a lot of ideas, just limited programming knowlege in php. I would consider making a donation to the cause for some help in getting something like this implemented. Or you could just view this as a general challenge to the central intellect

  • 3 months later...

I'm in the same boat and fairly new to OSCommerce.

I'm working on a site for a customer that has an option for "accessories". Within the "accessories" option I would like a customer to have the ability to select multiple accessories. I've spent a lot of time searching OSCommerce, but have been unable to find a post that answers this question clearly.

Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard

You are only going to be able to choose one option per drop down box. For what you are trying to do, you might be better off installing one of the contributions that allows checkboxes. Alternately, there is a contrbition called something like X-sell or Cross Sell that does what I think you want (i.e. to be able to sell related accessories at the same time as a product.

Hth,

Matt
