Does anyone know what I can do? I have tried for 2 days now to login to my oscommerce website with no luck. I don't know what is wrong. I've had the same password for over a year and everything has always worked. Then yesterday it wouldn't let me in. Of course, there is no option anywhere "forgot password", etc. So what now? I've tried calling my webpage hosting service, but they keep saying they need to ask another specialist and never give me any answers. I might start losing customers if I can't get in to do business soon!

If your password has worked for year (and you have not changed it), clearly the problem is not your password.

You should ask the host what changes have been made to the server in the past few day

eg have they upgraded the php version, the mysql version and so on.

If all else fails, get an osCommerce specialist to look at your shop => http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/tracker/project-6-commercial-support-enquiries/

If you have been running a very old version of osCommerce for a long time, it would have been based on a very old PHP version. If your host just upgraded PHP to a current version, that could break your shop. What version of osC?

Also go into your hosting control panel and look at the dates (timestamps) on all your files, to rule out that some hacker got into your site and has locked you out by changing files. They may also have changed your password in the database. If you never bothered to take actions to secure your site (change admin name, password protect administration, etc.), it would be very easy for a hacker to get in and lock you out (particularly on old versions of osC). Their motives could range from simple vandalism/nuisance to planting code changes to, say, siphon off customer payments to another account. It's more likely that a host PHP upgrade simply broke everything, but you can't rule out other possibilities yet.

Thank you so much for your answers. After 2 days, ipage finally got back to me and told me they did update the PHP, but there is nothing they can do to help me. Is this really the case? Why can't they do something temporary so that I can at least get in to save information that I need? Is it really gone for good? If so, I'm going to switch to Prestashop or something else. This is ridiculous! I can't believe that I lost all my hard work. :( They said that oscommerce would have to do something for me. I have v.2.3.4 and as far as the security you are talking about, I'm just terribly ignorant on website issues. I'm constantly trying to learn.

No, your information should not be gone. It's still in the files and the database, which you can get to via your hosting control panel, even if you can't run osC itself at the moment. By the way, any other shop (such as Presta) will have exactly the same problem -- it's not osC's problem alone.

2.3.4 is the current official version of osC, which should support at least PHP 5.4, if not all the way up to 5.6 (I'm not sure). What is your host at now for PHP version? If they've jumped all the way to PHP 7, that might cause problems with osC 2.3.4, and even minor problems with osC 2.3.4BS. You're sure you're not at osC 2.3.3.4? That's fairly old, and may not support current PHP versions.

Almost any good host should be able to temporarily let you roll back to an earlier PHP version, if you need to run that while installing a newer version of your application (osC).

Ipage refuses to roll back anything to let me update my online store. I asked them specifically to do this so I could upgrade everything, but they said they could not do that. :( They said they are at PHP 5.6 now with their recent upgrade and my specific site is set to PHP 5.3. Should I upgrade that? I don't even know where to do that. They showed me a link yesterday, but I was so frazzled, I forgot to write it down. Should I try uploading the Bootstrap version of Oscommerce? Is that the most up to date one? I do have v.2.3.4 unless I am mistaken. That's what it says on the login page that won't work for me.
