ouldbrogue Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 My name is Mark, Not quite sure this is the venue to use for this inquiry but I can't find any technical support on this site. My father has a website www.ouldbrogue.com with a merchandising link on it that is powered by OSCommerce.com It is an online shopping site. The site is currently down and I need help to get it back up. I need to speak with someone from this hosting org to assist me in getting the site up and working. Looking for help.
♥kymation Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 It looks like you are running a very old version of osCommerce, and your host upgraded their version of PHP to one that ancient code won't run on. You can try asking your host to roll back to the older version of PHP temporarily while you upgrade. You will then have to upgrade your osCommerce to the latest version so that it will run on a modern server. If you want to pay someone else to do the work for you, post on the commercial forum. MrPhil Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I can't find any technical support on this site By "this site" I'm assuming you mean either your father's site or your host's. This site www.oscommerce.com/forums is nothing but support. You are indeed running a very old version of osCommerce. In case there's any confusion, your father's site has a copy of osCommerce installed (a very old copy), probably provided through simplescripts.com. It is running some host (probably hostmonster), and not on osCommerce.com. osCommerce only provides (for free) the software -- it has nothing to do with hosting, running, or providing any dedicated support for the shop. There's plenty of free support on this forum. Unless your shop is highly dependent on a lot of customizations, you would be best off having someone get a copy (available on GitHub) of the new responsive version of osC 2.3.4 (2.3.4BS), install that, and migrate the database and image files over. Then you will be all caught up with the latest version. It can then be customized as needed (payment and shipping methods are the first thing that comes to mind). Stay away from "templates", as they are usually more trouble than they're worth. Finally, try to stay reasonably up to date with the store, so you don't get caught again by PHP upgrades.
