Pre-order module

Hi

I'm looking for a pre-order module in the add-ons, and I'm not finding much. The books in the store are known entities 3-6 months before publication. So pre-orders could be taken for those. Obviously given the length of time, we don't want to charge the customer yet for the products. (and I know cc companies frown on this.)

Is there anyway to store transactions (without cc information in the orders) and then activate them when the product is in stock and the available date has passed?

Thanks in advance!

If you're not storing payment information (CC numbers), the purchase cannot be fully executed on the availability date. Therefore, I don't think you could really call it a "pre-order". And don't go storing CC numbers unless you're fully PCI-DSS compliant and you give customers a way to cancel a pre-order any time before it is executed. Maybe something could be done similar to a "wishlist" where a customer can reserve a product for when it becomes available, be notified by email at that time, and easily transfer it to their cart when they next visit the store. I don't think there's any way to fully execute the order without customer involvement, unless you are allowed to store their CC numbers, or have them pay ahead of time by other means (essentially a standing store credit).

@@Jeffrmarks Both paypal and authorize.net modules have an authorization option. I've not used it but I think it would work for this. Though I don't know if that is good for 3-6 months.
