Updating OSC 2.3.3 to PHP 5.5

Hi all,

I have a client who is running a 2.3.3 Oscommerce site and they're web host is upgrading to PHP 5.5.30. After doing a bit of research i've found that 2.3.3 is not compatible (due to the depreciated mysql code) and needs to be upgraded to v2.3.3.2.

After looking into upgrading the current site the upgrade package shows 8 files which need to be changed to enable compatibility with PHP 5.5.

Is it just a case of reading the release notes and changing the 8 files to make it compatible?

You need to upgrade to 2.3.3.1 and then to 2.3.3.2. Just follow the instructions in the release notes.

While you are doing that, it would be best to continue on to 2.3.3.3 and 2.3.3.4 and 2.3.4. Then you'll be up to date with the latest code. There are some bug fixes in those releases that you really need to do.

If you want to skip all of the tedious updates, and the store doesn't have a lot of addons/mods, you could just install a new version of 2.3.4 or 2.3.4BS and update the database to work with it. This could be quicker, and 2.3.4BS gives you a modern responsive design.
