ecs2015 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Before I start to upload the ecommerce package I have two questions; Can this package be set up so that customers can pay for a membership, 3;6;9;12 months? If so, can it also be setup so both free and paid downloads be accessed?
Jack_mcs Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I'm not sure what you mean by "membership." But you can add a product and use the in-built attribute system to have the months as options. You would probably need to install the Must Select addon for the attributes. I'm not aware of an addon that will control if the downloads is free or not although there have been changes posted for providing free ones. So this can be done but would probably require the code to be altered without the aid of an addon. Membership; The customer buys access to all the products and can have as many as a loud for, lets say 3 months
Jack_mcs Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I'm pretty sure there isn't an addon like that. There is a member approval addon that might do part of what you want. There would have to be a change made to check the duration of the membership. The bottom line, in answer to your original question, is that the code can be changed to work this way but there isn't anything pre-coded for it. Looks like I am going to have to look at another ecommerce product
Jack_mcs Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I understand. But keep in mind that the main advantage of oscommerce is its flexibility. Some shop packages won't even allow you to alter the files. So as you look around, be sure to check things like that. TITO4 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I've been thinking on how to do it on oscommerce for months... Now I've found this: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/376997-run-site-as-a-membership-site/ where @@DunWeb suggests this: You can accomplish that with a combination of a couple contributions.1) Membership / Subscriptions2) Separate Price per CustomerChris Instead of SPPC, I suggest to use @@raiwa 's Wholesale (SPPC lite) I have it installed on a 234BS Gold, running like a charm. It works really great and is much easier to install. It only has two price leveles, but it is enough in most occasions. It also adds the possibility to classify your customers into two levels. The question of controlling "subscription time" still remains unsolved and can't be managed automatically (as far as I know). Regarding Membership / Subscriptions, I don't have tested it. It seems to be old (2003), but it has interesting ideas, such as "private area" for members only, etc. Another question that arises with membership sites is regarding recurring payments, and how to manage it. Some months ago, I tried with this: https://github.com/prparamasivam/oscommerce-recurring-payments but I wasn't able of getting it into work on my 234BS Gold...
