I'm using phpmyadmin

whenever I add a product or a category in the oscommerce admin panel, the new product or category doesn't show up in the table of my database. When I visit the store the product is there and I can view the product but it doesn't exist in the database.

When adding a manufacturer, it shows up in the database

daft question but have you refreshed the page in phpmyadmin? and also are you sure you are looking at the correct database?

If the product (description and image) is showing up in the store, then it must be going into the database. You're either looking in the wrong database, looking in the wrong table, or looking at an old cached browser page in phpMyAdmin. Ctrl+F5 should refresh the browser (force a fresh reload of the page) if you think it might be an old, cached page.

Nothing works; refreshing page, relogging, restarting computer, restarting router... As you can see in the attachments my product can be viewed but it doesn't exist in the database

I've gone through every table and looked for my product (I also ctrl+F carrot, but nothing showed up on any page)

Edit: Oh, the difference between the new product and the existing product is that the new one doesn't have an image because I can't upload an image (see http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/408812-upload-images-and-send-email-in-tor/)

What is a "Ctrl+F carrot"? The "caret" ^ is usually on the #6 key. You should be pressing the F5 function key while also holding down the Control key, if that's not what you were doing. The idea is to force the browser to request a fresh copy of the HTML (and all other files on the page), which means that the PHP will generate a freshly updated copy of HTML, including any changes you've made to the PHP or your database. You can also go into your browser's control panel and request that it flush everything out of (clear) the cache.

Anyway, a browser using a cached copy of a page is a common reason for old data being shown when you know it should have changed. Ctrl+F5 (or even just F5) is the first thing to try.

I'm using the older generation of OSCommerce, I think it's ver. 2.3.3. something...  When I log in I do not see anywhere on the Admin page to make changes like I did last year.  I cannot find any mention of where to click to add items using the oscommerce admin panel.

Maybe I should upgrade to the new 2.3.4. version as it may solve the issue, but I'd rather work within an environment I'm familiar and then upgrad later!  Any help or clues will be greatly appreciated...

@@culley  If I understand correctly.....I think want you want is under the catalog heading in the left hand column....if not post a screen shot so we can clearly see what you're looking at.

Ctrl+F to search for "carrot" (my product)

Already tried everything, from Ctrl F5 over deleting the cache folder to restarting modem and router, nothing worked

The url should work of you use the tor browser @@Dan Cole

@@FunnyPocketBook  Aahhh....I see.  I need to download an install an different browser....to be honest I'm not that interested but that might be why some of @@MrPhil 's suggestions aren't working either.

Ah, I see... Ctrl+F to bring up the on-page search bar, and you're looking for the same thing Bugs Bunny is.

osC 2.3.3.something is not terribly out of date, but it's not exactly current, either. It certainly wouldn't hurt to bring it up to date (2.3.4 or better yet, 2.3.4BS). If this is a school project and not to really sell stuff on the Internet, it doesn't matter that much. However, this "Tor" installation sounds like it works in a very non-standard manner... isn't Tor built primarily to do distribution of pirated material? I might be a little leery of using that, simply because it could bring you the unwanted attention of the authorities.
