hmm Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 My hosting service has upgraded their servers with Apache Version 2.4.17, PHP Version 5.5.30, MySQL Version 5.6.23. At that time I could not get into oscommerce at all. They helped me to get in but now there is an error to log in. I created new modules but still cannot get in to the login. These are the links. https://www.hopevideo.com/catalog/login.phphttps://www.hopevideo.com/catalog/account.phphttps://www.hopevideo.com/catalog/checkout_shipping.php They say they cannot offer any more support because they cannot find the fix for this problem. So customers cannot log into their account to see their order or make and order. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
multimixer Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 You are using a ancient osCommerce version, something like 10 years old, you can't expect it to work with the newer php versions. Does your VHS video cassette fit into your iPhone? You need to switch to the latest osCommerce version ( download ) and rebuild your store based on this. You can transfer over any relevant parts of your database, like products, customers, orders My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
hmm Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Really? You checked it out? I am running v2.3.4 with a template for our custom stuff. I am not real familiar with oscommerce but they just upgraded it for me less than a week ago and I am told it is the newest version v2.3.4 .
greasemonkey Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 @@hmm I'm not nearly the expert as @@multimixer is.... however on very quick inspection it certainly looks, and smells like Oscommerce 2.2. (what version of 2.2 I couldn't tell you). Which means you are WAY out of date. You may not want to here this - but you are trying to run a version of Oscommerce that is from early 2000's (about the age of Windows XP) on a server that is running newer generation of PHP (about the age of Window 7). You've got some very serious questions to ask of your developer....
multimixer Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 What you have comes from the stone age of osCommerce. At the same time, I see that on the login page it try to load a content module that is part of version 2.3.4 What I suspect is, that you installed version 2.3.4, then added a "template" on top, that "template" was in real a complete store of an ancient version, by installing it you moved your stores version 10 years back Only thing I see you can do now is to start over with a new store. You can keep your database and the images folder, so you don't need to add again products etc, in case you had any custom functionality you need to recreate it You say that "they" upgraded your store, who are "they"? If they are people you pay for setting up your store then its probably better you look for someone else My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
♥14steve14 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 When someone installed the latest version, hopefully they saved a good backup of the files. Restore those files to get the site working again. If someone didn't save a good copy, lesson one learned. Keep a backup. If your hosting is any good they should be doing daily backups. Ask them to restore to a good known date. If not lesson two learned. Good hosts offer this service. Failing that remove all the files from your system except the two configure files, and replace all the others with the ones included with the latest install pack. You can then hopefully get things working again. Lesson three learned. Make sure that you keep an eye on version numbers before adding anything. There is a separate section on these forums where paid help is available from developers that know what they are doing. Post in there and get help from a specialist. Lesson four learned. Use someone that knows what they are doing, its generally cheaper and saved mistakes REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
hmm Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Ok, I believe the template is the problem. My hosting provider upgraded my store for me and then tried to keep the old content with the custom template but at that point we were not able to get to a login page so we knew there was a problem. The realized the custom template was a problem but no one is sure how to keep oscommerce and the store products and pictures and get the login page to work properly. I have the newest version now installed with nothing else added. The custom template was for donations really for a ministry. It is not needed. But I do need the products and pictures and whatever else I can grab from the old store. I am going to try a few things and see if it works. Rebuilding our whole store would be exhaustive so I hope to avoid it. Thanks!
hmm Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 1. Ok, I have a new catalog installed at hopevideo.com/catalog2. I want to port over my products, customers and orders. Is this in the old database sql file? I have it and can upload it from my backups or is the information in the backup catalog folder somewhere. We all have to learn this somehow and maybe you can help. I don't want to accidentally upload the old template but I don't actually know where it is at so I am just trying to add just what I need to get as close to before as possible. 2. Actually, I renamed the original database file to the name of the new catalog database file but it knows the original name and just overwrote that one, which makes me think I need to install the new catalog under its original name with the original database sql name. Would this be correct? Thanks!
multimixer Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Yes, all of your products, customers, orders etc are in the database, you can export it using phpMyAdmin that should be available on your hosting control panel The process is something like that: 1) take a backup of your ld DB 2) Depending on the version of this old DB, you may need to upgrade it to he latest version 3) Import it using phpMyAdmin to our new DB. 4) Move the folder /images/ from the old fileset to the new (it contain the product images) If you have no idea what you are doing and if this all sound like Chinese for you and if you need a working store, then you could consider posting to the commercial part of the forum and seek professional help My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
